Tottenham Defender Attracts Barcelona’s Interest

The Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” reported that Argentine center-back Cristian Romero, the current captain of Tottenham, has decided to leave the English club next June, despite his contract running until 2029.

The newspaper indicated that Romero’s name has resurfaced among the interests of the Spanish club Barcelona, after Barcelona had previously followed him several seasons ago, even making a previous offer for him.

The report clarified that the reason for refocusing on the player is the tension between Romero and Tottenham’s management. The player posted on his Instagram account after one of the Premier League matches: “Great effort from all my teammates yesterday, they were amazing. I wanted to be available to help them even though I didn’t feel well, especially because we only had 11 players available. Amazing, but true and shameful.”

The report also noted that reports in Argentina link the possibility of his departure to a move to the Spanish league, pointing out that one of the reasons for the interest in him several seasons ago was a recommendation from Lionel Messi to strengthen the defense, although the Argentine star denied at the time that he directly requested the deal.

Romero is considered one of the top defenders in Europe, and his sporting future is expected to attract significant attention, especially if his transfer to Barcelona materializes during the upcoming transfer window.
