Chivu: The Team Can Be Developed Without New Signings, and Inter’s Academy is the Future’s Foundation

Christian Chivu, the coach of Inter Milan, expressed his complete satisfaction after his team’s victory over Torino in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia, affirming his great confidence in the young players.

Chivu said: “I am happy with the performance and energy the players showed in a match where we needed vitality and commitment, and we succeeded in creating many opportunities despite the difficulty of the encounter.”

Chivu continued his talk about the participation of academy players, saying: “I congratulate Matteo Cocci and Esiaka Kamat for what they have done, but the real praise should go to everyone who worked with these players in Inter’s academy over the past years.”

He added: “Today we saw Cocci and Kamat, but there are other names that are continuously developing and can help the team throughout the season.”

On relying on rotation and not making deals in January, he said: “I chose the most ready players in terms of energy because we went through a busy January and we will face a more difficult February.”

He added: “You can improve the team even without signing new players; these young players can make a difference when they are given confidence.”

Chivu concluded his statements by affirming Inter’s ambitions, saying: “We want to always be competitive and maintain the continuity that the club has built in recent years. Ambition is necessary, but it should not turn into negative pressure. We work hard to be ready, and this is what distinguishes this group of players.”
