Lekjaa: Successful Organization of the Africa Cup Confirms Morocco’s Readiness for the 2030 World Cup
Lecrae’s statements came during a speech he delivered at the Moroccan-Spanish-Portuguese Business Forum, held in the capital Rabat, where he explained that the 2030 World Cup will be an exceptional event, coinciding with the centenary of the World Cup tournament. It will be held for the first time as a joint organization between three countries united by geographical, historical, and future ties: Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
The president of the Morocco 2030 Foundation, in the presence of the heads of the three business confederations and several diplomatic representatives, emphasized that the tournament will be the first World Cup to be held across two continents, which presents shared challenges in terms of organization, security, logistics, and infrastructure. He also affirmed that the three countries possess the necessary expertise and competence to make the event a success and the best edition in the history of the World Cup.
Lecjaa added that the success Morocco achieved in organizing the Africa Cup of Nations will contribute to enhancing the closeness between the youth on both sides and solidifying the cultural and human dimension. He considered that sports represent a true lever for dialogue, coexistence, and building a shared future.
The Moroccan-Spanish-Portuguese Business Forum commenced this morning, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in the city of Salé, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamoura, with the participation of government officials, economic stakeholders, and representatives from major companies from the three countries.
The forum aims to accelerate the preparations related to organizing the 2030 World Cup by enhancing trilateral coordination and opening a broad discussion on ways to implement major projects accompanying the event, with a focus on investment opportunities and economic partnerships.
Participants discuss a number of strategic workshops, including the development of infrastructure and sports facilities, the improvement of transportation networks and smart mobility, support for the tourism and hospitality sectors, as well as digital and logistical services, which are expected to experience increased dynamism in the coming years.
The forum also aims to encourage innovation and the exchange of experiences, and to benefit from past experiences in organizing major sporting events, with the goal of achieving a sustainable economic and developmental impact that extends beyond the 2030 World Cup.
This event is seen as a pivotal milestone in the trajectory of trilateral cooperation, especially since the 2030 World Cup is considered a strategic project that goes beyond the sports framework to include economic, technological, and tourism dimensions, enhancing Morocco’s status as a prominent destination for hosting major international events.
