Sterling’s Deal to Samsunspor Fails

Suat Cakir, the official spokesperson for Samsunspor Club, confirmed that negotiations to sign the English star Raheem Sterling have stalled, after the deal had made significant progress in recent days.

Çakır explained in statements reported by the Anadolu Agency that the club’s management has conducted serious talks regarding the signing of the player, and significant progress has been made in the negotiations, with both parties nearing a final agreement.

He added that things were moving towards finalizing the signing of the player on a free transfer after his contract with Chelsea was terminated, before the circumstances changed at the last moment, leading to a sudden halt in negotiations.

The spokesperson indicated that the reason for the deal’s failure was Raheem Sterling’s unwillingness to move to the Turkish league, which led Samsunspor to completely close the file.
