Sørloth Aims to Regain His Form Against Barcelona

Sørloth has established himself as one of the key offensive elements in Atlético Madrid’s lineup in recent weeks, having scored five goals in seven matches. His performance played a decisive role in the team’s results, making him the most prepared player in the Madrid team’s forward line.
This positive streak came to a halt during the match against Levante, following an aerial collision with Matias Morio after a corner kick, which resulted in injuries to both players. Sorloth had to leave the field on a stretcher and was taken to the hospital for examinations, according to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo.”
Although tests confirmed that the injury was merely a mild concussion, the concussion protocol was activated, requiring the player to rest for several days and miss the match against Real Betis in the Copa del Rey held at the La Cartuja Stadium.
Sorloth returned to group training on Friday, wearing a protective band on his head, before being included in the squad for the match against Real Betis in La Liga. The Norwegian striker played the entire second half, but he did not display the same energy that has characterized him since the beginning of the year, despite his multiple attempts to score.
Sorloth hopes to regain his shine against Barcelona, which is considered his favorite opponent, as he has previously scored six goals in the last six matches he played against the Catalan team, before the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final last season, wearing the jerseys of Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Atletico Madrid.
This streak came to a halt in the cup match when he missed a clear scoring opportunity that could have equalized the score, leading to Atlético Madrid’s exit from the tournament. He also failed to find the net during the La Liga match this season at Camp Nou, where he came on as a substitute for only 27 minutes without scoring.
After two consecutive goalless matches against Barcelona, Sørloth is looking forward to the upcoming match as an opportunity to return to scoring and regain his scoring rhythm.
