Revealing the Suspension Duration of Mastantonio

The Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation has issued its decision regarding the incident of the red card received by Argentine star Franco Mastantonio in the match against Getafe.

The Spanish newspaper “Marca” reported in a report that the competition committee decided to suspend the Argentine player for two matches, and thus he will miss the match against Celta Vigo on Friday and the match against Elche on March 14.

According to the referee’s report, the player addressed him with protest phrases that included words considered offensive, prompting the committee to apply Article 124, which stipulates a two-match suspension for “actions indicative of contempt or disrespect.”

In the same context, the committee rejected the appeal submitted by Real Madrid regarding the yellow card received by Aurélien Tchouaméni during the match. In its decision, it clarified that assessing the intensity of contact between players falls within the referee’s discretionary powers during the course of play and does not warrant the cancellation of the warning.
