Marcus Rashford transfer away from Man Utd now ‘in danger’ | Football | Sport

Marcus Rashford’s future at Barcelona could hang in the balance depending on the result of this year’s presidential elections at the Nou Camp. The Manchester United loanee has impressed in Catalonia this season under Hansi Flick’s management.
A permanent move for Rashford is understood to be central to Laporta’s manifesto as he seeks another term. In encouraging news for Rashford’s hopes of remaining in Catalonia, Laporta is the frontrunner to extend a presidency that commenced in 2021 but is neverthelss facing attacks from rivals.
Rashford has previously made his position on Barcelona abundantly clear – stating in October his wish to remain at the club long-term. He said: “I’m really enjoying my time in Spain; the weather is the best.
“A very big change. I’m learning every day, I’m enjoying it a lot. I hope to be here for a long time.
“I get along very well with Roony [Bardghji], also Jules [Kounde] or Frenkie [de Jong]. It’s a team in which we all mix.
“We are united. The team is fantastic.
“I just have to be in the right position. I’ll keep trying to do this.
“We have to keep it up to be our best version. We have a lot more to do this season.”
Should Rashford complete a permanent switch to Barcelona, United would pocket a significant windfall.
Any transfer fee received would count as pure profit for the Red Devils – delivering a crucial financial boost ahead of the summer window. Reports suggest Rashford has agreed to take a substantial wage reduction to facilitate Barcelona’s compliance with rigorous financial fair play rules and salary cap constraints.
The England international is apparently willing to “adjust his salary” and accept lower wages than what he was due to earn at Old Trafford.
