Man Utd make Marcus Rashford transfer decision as Carrick plans emerge | Football | Sport

Manchester United continue to prepare for Marcus Rashford’s departure from the club this summer, as speculation over his future persists. The United academy product is on loan at Barcelona following his exclusion from the squad by former boss Ruben Amorim.
It had been suggested previously that the Catalan club were reluctant to meet the agreed price and were seeking to negotiate a marginally reduced sum. Nevertheless, recent reports indicate that United were unwilling to reduce the valuation, and Barcelona are now prepared to trigger the clause to secure the permanent signing.

It’s believed that Rashford himself favours a departure from United in the summer transfer window, regardless of whether a permanent switch to Barcelona materialises. He reportedly wants his long-term situation settled before linking up with England for the summer’s World Cup in North America.
Should that prove accurate, it will provide United with a financial windfall early in the transfer window as they seek to strengthen the squad. Any sum received for Rashford will register as pure profit under the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability rules (PSR).
The 28-year-old has previously made his position clear through remarks in October. “I’m really enjoying my time in Spain; the weather is the best,” he said.
“A very big change. I’m learning every day, I’m enjoying it a lot. I hope to be here for a long time. I get along very well with Roony [Bardghji], also Jules [Kounde] or Frenkie [de Jong]. It’s a team in which we all mix.
“We are united. The team is fantastic. I just have to be in the right position.
“I’ll keep trying to do this. We have to keep it up to be our best version. We have a lot more to do this season.”
This campaign has seen Rashford net 10 goals whilst contributing a further 13 assists across 34 outings in all competitions. He will return to the pitch on Thursday when Barca make the trip to face Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final.
