Igor Tudor’s true feelings on Tottenham players emerge | Football | Sport

Spurs currently sit 16th in the Premier League standings, but are in the last-16 of the Champions League after finishing fourth in the group phase. While Frank thrived in Europe’s elite competition, he found results hard to come by domestically. As well as failing to win a Premier League match in 2026, Spurs fans bemoaned his style of football and constant tinkering. In his first words as manager, Tudor made it clear he expects his players to play with greater intensity and purpose.

The ex-Juventus manager said: “It is an honour to join this Club at an important moment. I understand the responsibility I have been handed and my focus is clear.

“To bring greater consistency to our performances and compete with conviction in every match. There is strong quality in this playing squad. My job is to organise it, energise it and improve our results quickly.”

Sporting director Johan Lange outlined Tudor’s remit in the same announcement, emphasising the urgent need for better outcomes. Lange said: “Igor brings clarity, intensity and experience of stepping into challenging moments and producing impact.

“Our objective is straightforward – to stabilise performances, maximise the quality within the squad and compete strongly in the Premier League and Champions League.”

Tudor makes the move to north London having departed Juventus in October. football.london revealed earlier this week Spurs were optimistic about securing an experienced head coach ahead of Monday’s deadline.

He will have the opportunity to prove he is worthy of the role on a permanent basis as the season progresses. Speculation suggests Mauricio Pochettino could make a return to the club, though his availability is anticipated only following the World Cup.

Other contenders being considered include former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic and previous RB Leipzig boss Marcos Rose. Roberto De Zerbi, who departed Marseille earlier this week, may also feature amongst the candidates.

When questioned about the Tottenham vacancy, Oliver Glasner responded with a shake of his head, appearing dejected. The Austrian tactician is scheduled to depart Crystal Palace at the end of the campaign.
