I Expected the Mockery from the Start, but It Affects My Family

Liam Rossignol, the head coach of Chelsea, spoke candidly about the wave of mockery he has faced since taking over the team’s management, affirming that he anticipated the harsh reactions, but at the same time, it has had a clear impact on his family.

Rossignol said, before Chelsea’s match against Leeds at their home ground on Tuesday evening: “I knew this would happen, I have teenage children who use social media, and they are affected by what is written, and this also affects my father and my family.”

He added: “I was aware from day one that such things are normal in this job, and when you are prepared for them, they make you smile. I am a confident person, and if you are going to be affected by these things, there is no place for you in this position.”

He continued: “You cannot work in this job if you are negatively affected by it. Honestly, I enjoy what I do, it is true that I was not successful in my first match against Arsenal, but this is part of the job.”

He went on: “I enjoy the position, and I know that over time people will evaluate me based on what they see on the field, and that is what matters most to me.”

Regarding why he expected such reactions, Rossignol explained: “Perhaps it is due to my background and training method, working in a club the size of Chelsea is different, I am not a big name, I came from different clubs and have a different personality.”

He concluded his statements by saying: “I love this job and enjoy it, and I am not afraid to be myself, whether I wear glasses, have a slightly loud voice while speaking, or express myself in a certain way, it does not bother me at all.”
