Girona Deserved the Win, and We Need to Return to Our Best Levels

Hans Flick, the coach of Barcelona, analyzed his team’s 2-1 defeat against Girona in the twenty-fourth round of the Spanish league, affirming that Girona deserved the win, emphasizing the need to focus on improving his players’ performance instead of being preoccupied with refereeing decisions.

Flick said: “Girona had many chances to win, they deserved the victory because we were not at our best, our positioning was not good, especially in the midfield, we made a lot of mistakes, we need to get back on track and play well.”

He added: “Currently we are in a phase where we are not doing things right, the players need rest these days because they are tired, it’s a long road and we will return.”

Regarding the second goal scored by Girona, Flick said: “How did you see the situation? Is it a mistake? For me, it is, if we had played well, I would have talked more about this, but I don’t want to focus on the second goal, we need to play better and return to our best levels.”

He added about the injured players: “I hope Pedri and Rashford are ready on Sunday, Gavi can train with the team, when everyone is available, we will see if we can play at a higher level.”

Flick concluded his remarks by saying: “We are conceding goals more easily than we should.”
