Flamengo Opens Door to Sign Leonardo from Al Hilal

Felipe Luis clarified, in statements reported by Bolavip newspaper, that the matter of transfers falls under the jurisdiction of the club’s board of directors, emphasizing that the coach does not have the final say regarding signings.
The Flamengo coach pointed out that his role focuses on working with the available players and trying to bring out the best in them, explaining that everyone expresses their opinion, but the final decision rests with the management.
In recent times, several Brazilian clubs have shown notable interest in Marcos Leonardo, most prominently Flamengo, Palmeiras, Santos, and São Paulo, with some of these clubs having made official offers.
The newspaper mentioned that signing the 22-year-old player could be a financially suitable option for Flamengo, with the possibility of negotiating a loan that includes a purchase option clause.
This interest comes as Al Hilal needs to part ways with one of its forwards, either Marcos Leonardo or Darwin Núñez, following the signing of French player Karim Benzema to make room on the roster.
It is noted that Al Hilal signed Marcos Leonardo in September 2024 from Portuguese club Benfica for 40 million euros, with a contract extending until June 2029.
