Chelsea defender Axel Disasi is currently undergoing a medical at West Ham ahead of the transfer deadline. The Frenchman has not made a single appearance for the senior squad this season, having been consigned to training with the Under-21 development squad in August. He is now set to join the Hammers on a straight loan deal.

The 27-year-old will be desperate for a chance for a fresh start after being frozen out of the first-team picture, after also spending time on loan with Aston Villa in 2024/25. Disasi failed to secure a move to AS Monaco and has been out of favour at Stamford Bridge ever since. However, there are doubts as to whether the deal will go through before the transfer deadline, per The Guardian.

It will be the final jigsaw piece in a complex situation for the Blues, who missed out on the signing of Jérémy Jacquet. The French starlet is preparing to sign for Liverpool in a reported 69.5 million deal including add-ons, before heading back to Rennes on loan for the remainder of the season.

Sarr returns from loan; Anselmino replaces him at Strasbourg

After failing to agree a fee for Jacquet, Chelsea have since decided to recall Mamadou Sarr from his arranged loan stint with RC Strasbourg to provide cover for Liam Rosenior’s side in the coming months. The 20-year-old impressed at the Africa Cup of Nations and will now reunite with Rosenior, having played under the head coach last season in France. Strasbourg confirmed the agreement in a statement released on Monday evening.

Aarón Anselmino has taken Sarr’s place in the Strasbourg squad in what is his second loan of the season. The Argentinian defender saw his brief spell at Borussia Dortmund cut short due to a reported dispute over the German club’s willingness to sign him on a permanent deal. Instead, he will head to France for the second half of the season. But it is understood the west London club see him as a bright talent and have no intention of selling the youngster.
