Chelsea Plans to Sign Nantes Defender

The French newspaper “L’Équipe” confirmed that Chelsea is looking to strengthen its defense by making a €30 million offer to sign the rising star defender Théo Tati from the French club Nantes.

Tati is only 18 years old, but he has established himself as one of the most prominent young defensive talents in the French league. This season, he has played in 19 matches with the first team of Nantes, displaying a calmness and confidence beyond his years, which has attracted the interest of several European clubs.

Chelsea considers Tati as a long-term solution for the defense position, especially given the injuries and defensive inconsistency the team has faced this season, making strengthening the defense a priority during the current transfer window.

Chelsea’s management plans to sign a permanent contract with the player, with the intention of immediately loaning him back to Nantes. This allows him to continue developing in a stable environment while the club secures its long-term defensive future, a model Chelsea has previously adopted with young players.

The plan also includes internal movements to ensure playing time for young talents. It is expected that Mamadou Sarr will be recalled from his loan period at Strasbourg and the agreement will be terminated, while the young Argentine player Aaron Anselmino will leave for Strasbourg on loan to provide ongoing competitive opportunities for emerging defenders.

These moves reflect Chelsea’s long-term strategy, which focuses on developing young players, maintaining asset value, and achieving future team balance. Although Tati may not join Stamford Bridge immediately, the club sees him as a player capable of becoming a key component in Chelsea’s defense in the coming years.
