“Assist king” Julian Ryerson is having by far the best season of his career. He has already set up 13 goals this season – a tally the right-back has never come close to achieving in his career before. That has clearly attracting further interest. At the end of last year, it was reported that the 28-year-old was a candidate for Barcelona, and now German newspaper Bild is also adding two Premier League clubs to the growing list of interested parties.

According to the publication, Manchester United and Newcastle United are closely monitoring Ryerson. The Norwegian’s profile is said to make him very attractive to the Premier League. The right-footed player is considered to be strong in attack, flexible in defence and a robust fighter – and all that with a market value of €20 million. This is a sum that should be easily affordable for the Premier League giants. The same applies to his current salary of a reported €5 million, although he can expect an increase in his earnings at the two clubs mentioned. Ryerson’s contract with Dortmund runs until 2028.
Man United currently have two right-backs in their squad, Diogo Dalot and former Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui, but neither of them have Ryerson’s assist numbers to boast of. Dalot has three assists, while Mazraoui has yet to make his mark. Newcastle currently have three options at right-back in Tino Livramento, Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth, but the latter two’s contracts are expiring. Which means both clubs will likely be in the market for a right-back at the end of the season.
