Bayern Munich Shakes Atalanta’s Foundations and Puts a Foot in Champions League Quarter-Finals

The German team Bayern Munich achieved a sweeping victory over its Italian host Atalanta with a score of 6-1, in the match that brought them together in the first leg of the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, putting the Bavarian giant a foot in the quarter-finals.

Bayern Munich entered the match strongly from the early minutes, with Josip Stanisic opening the scoring in the 12th minute, and the Bavarian team did not wait long to double the score, as Michael Olise succeeded in scoring the second goal in the 22nd minute.

Serge Gnabry quickly added the third goal in the 25th minute, and Bayern Munich continued its complete control over the course of the match, with Nicolas Jackson scoring the fourth goal in the 52nd minute, then Michael Olise returned to sign his personal second and the fifth for his team in the 64th minute.

The German team did not stop there, as Jamal Musiala concluded the goal festival by scoring the sixth goal in the 68th minute, and in the 90+1 minute Atalanta scored its only goal through Mario Pasalic.

With this broad victory away from home, Bayern Munich is very close to securing the qualification card to the quarter-finals, before the return match that will be held next week at the Allianz Arena, where the German team only needs to confirm its superiority to officially advance to the next round.
