Howe said during the pre-match press conference: “We are fully prepared for this occasion, we know the task is difficult and we must be mentally strong to be at the level of such a match, we have experience in these tournaments and we have faced them before, they are a strong team but so are we.”
The Newcastle coach added: “The first half is a very important moment to score goals, and we must draw strength from anywhere to take advantage of this opportunity, in other matches we fell back in the second half, and moments of panic cost us a lot, so a strong start will be extremely important for us.”
He also talked about Barcelona’s style, saying: “The best way to face Barcelona is to have more possession than we did in the previous match against them.”
He added: “Lamine Yamal is a player from another level, his style of play has always amazed me, but our defense must be very vigilant to stop him.”
