Atletico Madrid Announces Signing of Ademola Lookman

Atletico Madrid officially announced the signing of Nigerian player Ademola Lookman from Italian club Atalanta, with a contract extending until June 30, 2030, in a deal that will last for four seasons.

Lukman, aged 28, is characterized by his flexibility and dynamism, as he can play as a second striker or a winger on either side of the field, taking advantage of his speed and dribbling skills. He began his career in the youth teams of Waterloo and Charlton Athletic, before moving through several European clubs, eventually reaching Atalanta.

During his time playing with Atalanta, Lookman contributed to the team’s victory in the 2023/2024 UEFA Europa League, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen. He played 137 matches with the team, during which he scored 55 goals and provided 27 assists.

He played his first match with the Nigerian national team in March 2022 and participated in 41 matches, scoring 11 goals.

Although the club did not announce the value of the deal, some press reports stated that signing the player cost the Spanish club’s coffers 40 million euros.
