Arsenal’s January transfer window round-up

  • Arsenal secured a late deal for 18-year-old Stoke City defender Jaden Dixon. The England youth talent joined the Gunners for a fee of approximately £500,000, choosing North London despite interest from several other top-flight clubs.

  • The club’s pursuit of Scottish prodigy James Wilson ended in disappointment. Although Arsenal held talks for the Hearts striker, rivals Tottenham successfully hijacked the move to bring him to London instead.

  • In a successful Scottish swoop, the Gunners agreed a £800,000 deal for St Mirren starlet Evan Mooney just before the deadline, according to Football.London. The 18-year-old forward travelled to London for a medical, with Arsenal paying an initial £400,000 to beat competition from Newcastle.

  • Following an injury to Mikel Merino, the Gunners were reportedly offered Sandro Tonali by his agent. However, Newcastle United were unwilling to negotiate a departure for the Italian midfielder, and no formal talks took place.

  • In a significant permanent departure, Oleksandr Zinchenko moved to Ajax. His disappointing loan spell at Nottingham Forest was terminated early to facilitate a permanent £1.3 million transfer to the Dutch giants.

  • Teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri completed a high-profile loan move to Marseille. Arsenal view the creative midfielder as a vital long-term asset, so the deal includes no option for the French side to buy him.

  • Several academy prospects left on loan to gain experience. Maldini Kacurri joined Grimsby Town, while Osman Kamara moved to Blackburn and Louie Copley headed to Crawley to continue their development.
