Alexis Mac Allister’s father responds to Man Utd transfer links with Liverpool message | Football | Sport

Alexis Mac Allister’s father has responded to rumours that the Argentine midfielder could be of interest to Liverpool’s fierce rivals, Manchester United. The World Cup winner has reportedly emerged as a surprise transfer target for United, with his future at Liverpool said to be up in the air.
United are said to be eyeing up midfield additions, with Mac Allister having been mentioned as a potential suitor. The ex-Brighton ace has over two years left on his deal at Anfield, but has been in and out of Arne Slot’s starting XI this season, and according to The Mirror, is attracting attention from United.
As such, exit rumours have started to grow, and when quizzed by WinWin on the speculation, Carlos Mac Allister replied: “Alexis is only thinking about Liverpool at the moment. We are waiting for an offer to renew his contract. We will see what the club’s plan is. We’ll wait and see what happens with the renewal. That’s all.”
It appears the Mac Allister camp are keeping their cards close to their chest, and understandably so. The midfielder originally joined Liverpool in 2023 for an initial £35million, with reports that the deal could rise as high as £55m.
If manager Slot doesn’t view Mac Allister as part of his plans and an extension isn’t offered, this summer will likely prove the best chance Liverpool have of cashing in on the 27-year-old. Should the Reds wait any longer, there’s a risk that Mac Allister will drag his contract down and leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2028.

Mac Allister raised eyebrows last month when he appeared to criticise manager Slot and the club for the big upheaval in personnel over the 2025 summer window. He told Sky Sports: “It hurts. Many things have changed from last season and it is not ideal, but that is the situation we are in and we have to face it and keep working to get better.”
And when asked why Liverpool have struggled for momentum this season, he added: “Many things changed, as I said. New players came in to replace those who left, we changed too many things, but I prefer to keep it to myself.”
