Tottenham stance on signing Sterling and striking late Chelsea hijack | Football | Sport

Tottenham Hotspur are not looking to complete a move for Raheem Sterling following his exit from Chelsea. The former England international ended his time at Stamford Bridge earlier this month and is available on a free transfer.
Speaking on Sky Sports News, he said: “They need players in. Thomas Frank and Tottenham have been unlucky with Solanke, Kulusevski and Maddison all out.
“I would bring Sterling in. I think it’s a no-brainer on a free transfer. I really do.
“You don’t want to start bringing every Tom, Dick and Harry in to try and stay up.
“They just need one or two players in and get their players fit.”
However, Sky report that the club have no interest in any deal that would see Sterling come to the club. The 31-year-old spent last season on loan with Arsenal, but they decided not to make the move permanent in the summer.
Spurs have just a matter of hours to complete any late deals that they hope will help to turn their season around. TEAMTalk claims that Tottenham are considering making a late move for Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi; however, that appears wide of the mark.
West Ham are also keen, with the defender said to be undergoing a medical at the London Stadium. A deal is not fully done, with some doubts over how much the player wants the move.
Doubts have been raised over Spurs’ reported interest, with Sky claiming that the club are not looking at the loan market for any signings between now and the deadline. Thomas Frank has outlined that he is keen to bring in players for a longer-term project instead of ‘stop gaps’.
“We are active, no doubt about that. If something happens, let’s see,” he said following the 2-2 draw with Man City.
So far in the window, Spurs have completed moves for midfielder Conor Gallagher and full-back Souza. The club have also tried to sign Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson, but that deal appears to have fallen through.
