All the latest transfer news on deadline day

  • Arsenal have surprised the market by opening talks with Hearts for Scottish teenage sensation James Wilson. The 18-year-old striker is already a full international and is seen as an immediate reinforcement for Mikel Arteta’s attacking options. Discussions are currently centred on an initial loan deal to bring the prolific youngster to the Emirates before tonight’s 7pm deadline.

  • Manchester United failed in a dramatic late attempt to hijack a transfer for Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet. The 20-year-old chose to honour his agreement with Liverpool. United have now pivoted toward clearing out fringe players, with Joshua Zirkzee potentially heading for a late exit to Italy.

  • Liverpool are finalising the paperwork for Rennes centre-back Jeremy Jacquet after he arrived for his medical today. The Reds fended off interest from Chelsea and a late United hijack to secure the £60m star. Although the deal is being signed now, the agreement stipulates that the France Under-21 international will remain in Ligue 1 until the summer.

  • Chelsea have turned their full attention to Nantes defender Tylel Tati after missing out on Jacquet. The 18-year-old is valued at £26m and is seen as the ideal young profile to replenish a defence losing Axel Disasi today. The Blues are also facilitating several loan exits, including Aaron Anselmino and David Datro Fofana, as they balance the squad.

  • Everton are on the verge of announcing the loan signing of Tyrique George from Chelsea. David Moyes views the 19-year-old winger as essential cover following a potentially season-ending injury to Jack Grealish. The deal includes an option to buy, and George is expected to complete his medical on Merseyside this afternoon to beat the deadline.

  • Crystal Palace have had a massive £48m bid accepted for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. The Norwegian is set to replace Jean-Philippe Mateta, whose move to AC Milan is currently “in the balance” due to medical delays. Palace are also exploring a late defensive raid on Brentford for Ethan Pinnock to bolster their backline.

  • West Ham are set to secure the loan signing of Chelsea defender Axel Disasi today. The French international has reportedly agreed to the move across London after falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. He is set to be one of two announcements Chelsea are set to make today.

  • Fulham are locked in negotiations with PSV Eindhoven to sign American striker Ricardo Pepi. The Cottagers have seen a £28m bid knocked back, with the Dutch club demanding at least £30m for the 23-year-old. Talks have resumed this afternoon as Marco Silva looks to add more firepower before the Premier League window slams shut.
