Pedri Speeds Up His Return to the Field with Barcelona

The Spanish newspaper “Sport” confirmed that Pedri, the Barcelona player, has started continuous running exercises as part of his recovery process from the muscle injury that kept him away from team training under the supervision of Hans Flick.

The report clarified that Pedri continued working away from his teammates, but he made significant progress, which is an important step in his recovery journey from the injury to the biceps femoris muscle in his right leg. He sustained this injury on January 21 during a Champions League match in Prague, where the medical report indicated a recovery period of up to a month.

After approximately two weeks, it is expected that the player will need an additional two weeks to complete the prescribed recovery period. Indicators suggest that he is on the right track for a successful return.

Barcelona benefits from a favorable match schedule, having secured direct qualification to the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League, which grants them a break before resuming European competitions. Barcelona is set to face Albacete on Tuesday and Mallorca on Saturday. Pedri might participate in the match against Girona on February 16, in preparation for the encounter with Levante.

The newspaper indicates that Pedri’s return will be crucial for Barcelona, as there is no other player with his characteristics who can fill the central midfield position. Meanwhile, Bernal and Casado are more specialized in the defensive midfield role, while Olmo and Fermín possess greater attacking abilities in the midfield.
