Man City’s first deadline day transfer decided with Anderson agreement | Football | Sport

However, as illustrated by their failure to see out a win against Tottenham on Sunday, the picture is far from perfect. This City team still requires work and director of sport Hugo Viana may see deadline day as an opportunity to strengthen again. Here, Express Sport has taken a look at how we would improve the City squad before the 7pm deadline…

Amos Murphy – Elliot Anderson

Manchester City were the busiest of the Premier League’s big-hitters in January, with Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo welcomed to the Etihad Stadium. Their squad is looking much healthier for it, but there are still gaps to be found in midfield. What if they brought forward another deal they were looking to do in the summer, with Elliot Anderson signed before the window shuts? The Blues are said to be plotting a move for the Nottingham Forest man at the end of the season, so clearly hold a keen interest in bringing him to the club.

Charlie Malam – Elliot Anderson

It’s not going to happen this month but they can dream right? Even if City could start making inroads with Anderson’s representatives towards a summer deal, that would be smart. The Nottingham Forest midfielder would be a brilliant acquisition. A top-level player on and off the ball, he has the technical and physical attributes to be a monster for City. He is the best duel-winner in the Premier League according to the statistics and will cost over £100million but could be the ideal long-term successor to captain Bernardo Silva. Best of all, he can play in multiple midfield roles, he’s only 23 and Manchester United want him, so City would be getting one over on their rivals by landing the England international.

Jack McEachen – Elliot Anderson

Manchester City have already done the unthinkable and brought in both Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo, what is to stop them from grabbing a third Premier League star in Elliot Anderson? Nottingham Forest are adamant that their England international won’t be sold, but Crystal Palace put up that same protest before selling their club captain and Three Lions star too. If City arrive with a £100million-plus bid on deadline day it would be very hard to turn down. And Pep Guardiola’s side need immediate results after more dropped points against Tottenham. Anderson could bring them closer to Arsenal and a Champions League push.
