Liverpool should make three signings if West Ham and Wolves get relegated | Football | Sport

Liverpool could reap the rewards of West Ham and Wolves potentially being relegated from the Premier League. The reigning champions almost certainly won’t defend their title this season, with Arsenal and Manchester City set to battle it out for the domestic honours. As a result, the Reds will be looking to add more quality to their ranks ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

They spent a huge amount of money in the summer, bringing in the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak in an attempt to make themselves unstoppable. It hasn’t exactly gone to plan, though, which suggests their big-spending approach might not be repeated next time around. Raiding the relegated clubs for their best players at a discounted price might be one avenue for the Reds to explore.

With that in mind, Express Sport takes a look at three potential signings from West Ham and Wolves…

Mateus Mane

The teenage Wolves forward has turned heads with his form in the Premier League in recent weeks. In his last four games, he has scored twice and chipped in with one assist.

Mane’s form has seen him emerge as a rare shining light for Wolves, who have struggled all season long and appear destined for a return to the Championship.

He was only properly introduced by Rob Edwards at the end of November and is already among their most influential players. More of the same and he won’t be at Molineux much longer.

Mateus Fernandes

Liverpool could shore up their midfield ranks with a move for West Ham playmaker Mateus Fernandes, who reportedly has a relegation release clause of around £20million.

An all-around midfielder, the Brazilian would be a steal at that price and has plenty of room for additional improvement at the age of just 21.

Even if it doesn’t work out for him at Anfield, the Reds could sell him for a significant profit further down the line.

Jarrod Bowen

The winger is easily the best player on this list and would be a solid signing for any Premier League club at the end of the season.

He’s far too good to be playing Championship football and it seems unlikely that West Ham would stand in his way, given the servant he’s been over the last few years.

Liverpool could potentially be getting a top player for a fraction of his worth, but they certainly won’t be the only team looking to sign the 29-year-old if the Hammers go down.
