Manchester United Defender Sentenced to Prison

Sky Sports reported that the court convicted Maguire on three charges: non-serious assault, resisting arrest, and attempted bribery, resulting in a 15-month suspended sentence.
The network explained that the player denied any wrongdoing, noting that his legal team will appeal the Greek court’s ruling.
The incident dates back to August 2020, when police arrested Maguire outside a bar following an altercation involving his family. The player faced charges of assaulting police officers and attempting to bribe them.
The report indicated that the case saw several developments, as the player was retried following the appeal and his conviction was annulled according to Greek law. The trial was postponed four times, and the last session held in October 2025 was not completed due to the court documents not being translated into English.
