Zidane Recalls His Football Career from Beginnings to Pivotal Moments

The French football legend Zinedine Zidane recalled the highlights of his sports career, from his early matches to the most decisive moments in his football life, affirming that he still gets goosebumps when he remembers them.

This came during his conversation with L’Équipe magazine on the occasion of its 80th anniversary, where Zidane reviewed the details of his long and achievement-rich career.

Zidane spoke about his beginnings at Cannes, when he made his first appearance in the French league in 1989 as a substitute in the final minutes of the match against Nantes, and how the first goal he scored was a great source of joy for him, leaving a strong impression on his professional beginnings.

He also recalled his first goals with the French national team in a match against the Czech Republic in 1994, when he came on as a substitute and scored two goals, which confirmed his ability to excel from the start of his international career. He added that those moments were a source of motivation for him to put in more effort and dedication on the field.

Zidane also reviewed his career with major clubs, starting with Bordeaux where he faced significant challenges, and reaching Real Madrid, where he played alongside global stars like the Brazilian Ronaldo.

He explained that interacting with players of this caliber helped him hone his skills and understand the game at the highest level. Additionally, important matches in Europe left an unforgettable impression on his memory, whether in terms of decisive goals or the fantastic atmosphere he experienced in the stadiums.

Zidane highlighted the key moments of his career in addition to the 1998 World Cup final, such as his famous goal in the 2002 UEFA Champions League final against Bayer Leverkusen, and his distinctive kick in the 2006 World Cup final against Italy in front of goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. He affirmed that all these moments shaped his personality and sports career, both as a player and later as a coach, and that their memories remain alive in his heart, giving him a constant feeling of chills when recalling them.
