Dutchman Arne Slot, Liverpool’s coach, expressed a notable opinion regarding the current level of football in the English Premier League, affirming that the enjoyment of the game is not as it used to be, despite the ongoing competitive strength.

Slot stated in a press interview: “Do I love it? My football heart says no. When I think of football, I remember Barcelona’s team from 10 to 15 years ago,” referring to the golden era of the Catalan club that amazed the world with its artistic style and enjoyable possession.

The Dutch coach added that watching matches at present “is no longer as enjoyable,” explaining that the tactical and physical aspects have overshadowed the aesthetic elements that previously distinguished the game.

Nevertheless, Slot emphasized that the Premier League remains a highly competitive championship, where results are difficult to predict in advance, which gives it a special excitement even if, in his opinion, the artistic enjoyment has declined compared to what Barcelona offered a decade ago.
