Tottenham appoint Igor Tudor as new head coach as statement released | Football | Sport

Igor Tudor has been announced as the new head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, in the wake of Thomas Frank’s sacking on Wednesday morning. Anouncing the news, Spurs shared a statement which read: “Igor joins us with a clear focus: to improve performances, deliver results and move us up the Premier League table. His mandate is straightforward – bring organisation, intensity and competitive edge to the squad at a decisive stage of the campaign.”

A seasoned manager with more than ten years’ worth of experience under his belt, Tudor has previously enjoyed stints with PAOK, Galatasaray, Marseille, Lazio – and most recently – Juventus. He is now tasked with turning the tide in north London as Spurs languish in 16th in the Premier League standings, staring down the battle of a relegation battle.

The 47-year-old will now prepare his first-team ahead of his Tottenham managerial debut, which comes in the form of the North London Derby against title favourites Arsenal on Sunday, February 22. It comes after Spurs parted ways with Frank on Wednesday following a turbulent eight-month stint with the club.

Despite thriving with Brentford ahead of his arrival at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Dane managed to make a mark with the Lilywhites. Ultimately, he left following one of the club’s most challenging periods in recent history, going eight Premier League matches without a victory.

An official statement from the club on Frank read: “The club has taken the decision to make a change in the men’s head coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today.

“Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together. However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.

“Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment – giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
