Xavi Simons has told Spurs why to appoint Marco Rose amid update | Football | Sport

Rose has been without a club since departing RB Leipzig in March last year, bringing extensive Bundesliga credentials, having previously managed Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach alongside his Leipzig stint.
Spurs playmaker Xavi Simons gained first-hand knowledge of Rose’s methods during their time at Leipzig prior to his switch to north London last summer.
Following his arrival at Spurs, Simons offered glowing praise for his previous manager, providing insight into what Tottenham supporters might expect should Rose make the move to north London.
The Tottenham star was asked about his reputation as among the earliest arrivals and latest departures from training during his Leipzig days, with questions also raised regarding Rose’s praise of his dedication on the training pitch.
“I’m glad Marco said that; my respect for him couldn’t be greater. Of course, I didn’t check who arrived at or left training when,” Simons said in an interview with Leipziger Volkszeitung in September last year.
“For me, it was and still is perfectly normal not to show up at the last minute. And between sessions and afterwards, our sensationally equipped training centre offered plenty of opportunities to do something good for yourself and your body.
“Some things don’t change, even in the fast-paced world of football; talent is helpful on the path to becoming a professional, but you only play as well as you train. On the weekend, I can only show what I’ve worked on during the week.
“Marco is always right! We had a special relationship from day one,” Simons added. “I quickly realised he was a fantastic coach and a great person.
“Marco often talked to me about the essentials; what matters on the pitch, in the locker room, and off the pitch. Where I needed to improve, how I should behave differently in certain situations.
“He knew I had a strong winning mentality. And, yes, you could see my frustration after losses.”
