Tottenham sack decision slammed after Thomas Frank statement | Football | Sport

The Australian guided Spurs to glory in the competition, securing Champions League qualification for this campaign. Despite the European success, Tottenham also ended the season languishing in 17th position in the Premier League table.
That ultimately prompted Spurs to make a managerial change. Postecoglou was succeeded by Frank in the summer, but following a poor opening half of the campaign, the Dane has been dismissed with Tottenham positioned in 16th place in the table.
The hunt for a new manager is now ongoing. However, Sherwood maintains that a change should never have been made initially. “Tottenham should have never finished 17th last season but that was the gamble that Ange Postecoglou took and I think they sacked a winner,” he told Casinostugan.
“Everyone’s tried to win at Tottenham but that man actually did it and I give him a lot of credit for that. He put all his eggs in the Europa League basket but that’s how he got the team the opportunity to win a trophy, and that’s why they finished 17th.”
The former manager has also issued a caution to Spurs regarding a potential appointment of Oliver Glasner. The Austrian has confirmed his departure from Crystal Palace at the season’s end and features prominently amongst the early bookmakers’ favourites to assume control at Tottenham.

“Oliver Glasner has done a fantastic job at Crystal Palace but I don’t like the way he has acted. I think he’s thrown his toys out of the pram and I thought it was disrespectful to the club the way he came out and threw them under the bus,” Sherwood said.
“The club have been good to him. He knew when he took the job in the first place that Palace are a selling club. Their best players outgrow the club. “He’s done a wonderful job. He’s given the fans the best moment they’ve ever had in their recent history (the FA Cup win). He also gave them one of the worst moments with the way they went out against Macclesfield, don’t forget.
“It all levels itself out but Palace have put him on the map in the Premier League and now I think a lot of clubs who might have taken a look at him before his outburst will think twice. They might think hold on, that might happen to us.”
