Manchester United Halts Plans for Friendly Match

Manchester United has backed down from its initial plans to hold a friendly match during the Premier League’s winter break, according to British media reports.

The club was considering playing an exhibition match in one of the Middle Eastern countries during the league break, which lasts for about two weeks, without any official matches for the team.

However, the British newspaper “The Times” confirmed that the United management preferred to give the players a short break during the pause, after interim coach Michael Carrick rejected the idea of holding a training camp in a warm climate, opting instead to focus on recovery and preparation for the remaining matches.

This decision aligns with the team’s light schedule this season, as only 13 matches remain following the early exit from the cup competitions. Carrick believes that any additional training during the break will benefit the players.

The newspaper indicated that talks regarding holding the match may resume after the international break next month, noting that the primary goal of the match was to compensate for the financial losses resulting from the team’s failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League or any other major tournament.
