Mbappe Describes Valencia Match Referees as Clowns

The French star Kylian Mbappe was one of the main highlights of the match between Real Madrid and Valencia, which the royal team won 2-0. This was not only because of his stoppage-time goal that concluded the match but also due to the thrilling events involving the refereeing team and the reactions of the Mestalla Stadium crowd.

Mbappe scored his late goal to strengthen his lead in the list of top scorers in European leagues, once again confirming his decisive impact with Real Madrid. However, the moment that captured attention occurred just before the end of the first half, when the referee called offside on the French star after he received a ball following a clearance from Valencia’s defense, a decision that the player did not understand.

According to footage captured by the “DAZN” network, at the end of the first half, Mbappe approached the fourth official demanding an explanation for the decision, saying: “How can it be offside? I’m asking you for an explanation.” The fourth official replied, “It was difficult with the camera,” and asked him to discuss the matter inside the tunnel leading to the locker rooms, to which the player agreed.

Mbappe returned to demand further clarification in the locker room tunnel, expressing his dissatisfaction with the referee ignoring him. He then turned to his teammate Eduardo Camavinga and sharply commented in French, describing the referees as “clowns,” in a moment that sparked widespread controversy after the match.

The events surrounding Mbappé did not stop there, as he was also the target of hostile chants from some Valencia fans in the Mestalla stands, where offensive remarks were heard against him. The French star completely ignored these provocations and chose to respond only on the field, concluding a tense night with a valuable goal that secured another victory for Real Madrid.
