Real Madrid managed to secure the match during the first half, after Antonio Nunez opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a header following a corner kick executed by Ruben. Guti added the second goal just three minutes later from a direct free kick, earning applause from the crowd that filled the stands.

Although Guti participated only in the first half, he dominated the midfield and led the pace of the game, while Ronaldinho showcased several impressive skills in a Barcelona jersey, alongside prominent names like Carles Puyol and Rivaldo, yet the Catalan team failed to score.
