Barcelona Announces Withdrawal from the Super League

Today, Barcelona Club officially announced its withdrawal from the European Super League project (Super League), after notifying the Super League company and all participating clubs of its decision officially.

The Catalan club confirmed in an official statement that this step came after a comprehensive evaluation of the current situation of the project, and the surrounding sports and legal data, in addition to considering the interests of the club and the aspirations of its fans.

Barcelona’s withdrawal is a new development in the European Super League file, which has witnessed widespread controversy since its announcement, amidst continued rejection by continental and local federations, in addition to significant fan objections.

It is noteworthy that 12 European clubs announced in 2021 the establishment of what is known as the ‘Super League Championship,’ before all clubs withdrew from participation, except for Real Madrid, Juventus, and Barcelona, leaving the trio with an initial commitment to the project, before Juventus and Barcelona later announced their withdrawal.

With the withdrawal of all participating clubs in the championship, Real Madrid remains the only club committed to the project, which puts the Super League on the path to final collapse and increases doubts about its near future.
