Officially.. Barcelona Announces Withdrawal from Super League

Barcelona club announced today its official withdrawal from the European Super League project (Super League), after notifying the Super League company and all participating clubs of its decision officially.

The Catalan club confirmed in an official statement that this step came after a comprehensive evaluation of the current situation of the project, and the surrounding sports and legal data, in addition to considering the interests of the club and the aspirations of its fans.

Barcelona’s withdrawal is a new development in the European Super League file, which has seen widespread controversy since its announcement, amidst continued rejection by continental and local federations, as well as significant fan objections.

It is noteworthy that 12 European clubs announced in 2021 the establishment of what is known as the ‘Super League Championship’, before all clubs withdrew from participation, except for Real Madrid, Juventus, and Barcelona, leaving the trio with an initial commitment to the project, before Juventus and Barcelona announced their withdrawal later.

With the withdrawal of all participating clubs in the tournament, Real Madrid remains the only club holding on to the project, putting the Super League Championship on the path to ultimate collapse, and increasing doubts about its near future.
