Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ‘agrees Celtic transfer’ in verbal agreement | Football | Sport

Liverpool legend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has lifted both the Champions League and Premier League trophies at Anfield, reportedly has a ‘verbal agreement’ for a transfer to Celtic. The 32 year old midfielder has been without a club since departing Turkish outfit Besiktas in August and had been training with Arsenal, where he made 198 appearances over six years.

However, his time at Liverpool, following a £35million move, is perhaps more memorable. During his stint at Liverpool, Oxlade-Chamberlain clinched the Champions League, Premier League, League Cup, Super Cup and Club World Cup titles, despite a series of injuries marring his final seasons at Anfield.

After joining Besiktas in 2023, he played 46 matches and scored five goals before leaving the club last August.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the brink of signing for Celtic, tweeting: “Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Celtic, here we go!” He added: “Verbal agreement in place for the midfielder. He’s in Glasgow today for new chapter on six month deal plus option to extend.”

Earlier this week, Celtic manager Martin O’Neil confirmed his interest in the former Liverpool star, saying: “I’ve spoken to him, but I’m sure he has plenty of options, maybe closer to London.”

He added: “I’d be very interested in doing it. I’m surprised people haven’t taken him up.

“I think he was very excited about what we were saying. He knows all about the club, he’s a big friend of Joe Hart and Joe has spoken to him – not on our behalf. It’s something we’re interested in but if it doesn’t materialise, it doesn’t materialise.£
