The main focus during the transfer window for supporters is new signings walking in the door, but for many clubs raising funds through sales is the priority. Clubs adopt different transfer strategies but realistically all teams, bar the biggest few in the world, are ultimately selling clubs.

The player trading model is imperative for so many smaller clubs with their aim to develop talents before selling them on for substantial profits. Clubs like RB Leipzig, Rennes, Club Brugge and Brighton have gained notoriety for excelling in this field but which clubs made the most profit in the transfer market across the 2025/26 season? With both transfer windows closed, for the majority of major leagues, we’ve analysed the numbers.

Which club made the biggest transfer profit across 2025/26?

No club has made more transfer profit this season than Monaco with the principality side €132.6 million in the black. The Ligue 1 club raked in €146.6m in transfer fees, with Eliesse Ben Seghir’s €32m move to Bayer Leverkusen their biggest sale and they only spent €14m on new signings. As the graphic below illustrates, Bournemouth rank second after making €130.31m in profit following substantial summer sales.

Dean Huijsen, Ilya Zabarnyi and Milos Kerkez all departed for over €40m, while Antoine Semenyo’s €72m move to Manchester City was the record January deal. Southampton are the surprise package in third (€86.6m) with the South Coast club offloading numerous players following their relegation to the English Championship. Four French clubs feature in the top ten list with RB Salzburg the only club from outside the top five leagues.
