Lamine Yamal’s Transformation Returns Him to the Ballon d’Or Competition

The Spanish newspaper ‘Mundo Deportivo’ highlighted the significant transformation in Lamine Yamal’s performance with Barcelona, after overcoming a difficult period at the beginning of the season, becoming a decisive player again and placing himself among the contenders for the Ballon d’Or.

The newspaper explained that the Barcelona winger was affected at the start of the season by an injury in the groin area, in addition to the controversy surrounding him before the El Clasico match at Santiago Bernabeu last October, which marked a turning point in his career this season. Since that loss, Yamal changed his mindset, distanced himself from media pressure, and focused entirely on football and individual work to regain his readiness.

According to the newspaper, Lamine Yamal succeeded in scoring in four consecutive matches for the first time in his career with the first team, the latest being against Albacete, contributing to Barcelona’s 2-1 victory and qualification to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. The newspaper also confirmed that the player has become the team’s second top scorer this season with 14 goals, behind Ferran Torres, in addition to leading the list of best assist providers with 13 assists.

The report indicated that Lamine Yamal’s numbers have remarkably improved after the El Clasico, as he scored 11 goals and provided six assists since that match, compared to only three goals before it, reflecting his technical maturity and ability to make a difference, whether by scoring or playmaking.

The report confirmed that Lamine Yamal’s return to his best form represents ideal news for Barcelona in the critical phase of the season, given their need for an offensive leader capable of making a difference in major tournaments, especially the UEFA Champions League.
