Barcelona Shines in the King’s Cup Under Flick’s Leadership

German coach Hansi Flick continues to solidify his special relationship with the Copa del Rey, having achieved notable figures with Barcelona during his participation in the competition, according to the Spanish newspaper ‘Mundo Deportivo.’

According to the newspaper, Flick, who is leading Barcelona for the second consecutive season, has succeeded in winning 4 titles since taking charge, including two Spanish Super Cup titles, a La Liga title, and a Copa del Rey title. The team is steadily moving under his leadership towards repeating the treble achieved in the 2024/2025 season, in addition to being one of the top contenders for the UEFA Champions League title in its current edition.

The newspaper pointed out that the Spanish Super Cup is considered the ideal tournament for Flick with Barcelona, where he played 4 matches and won all of them, scoring 15 goals while conceding only 4, which led to two titles won by the team in Saudi Arabia.

As for the Copa del Rey, Barcelona under Flick’s leadership has played 8 matches so far, achieving 7 wins and one draw. The victories came against Barbastro, Real Betis, Valencia twice, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Guadalajara, and Racing, while the only draw was against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the semi-finals of the previous edition.

The report highlighted that defensive solidity is one of Barcelona’s key features in the tournament, as the team kept clean sheets in 5 matches while conceding only 7 goals, 4 of which came in one match against Atletico Madrid in the previous edition. In the current 2025/2026 season, Barcelona has not conceded any goals in the competition so far, reflecting the team’s strength and stability under Hansi Flick’s leadership.
